PRESS RELEASE – January 19, 2017

For Immediate Release

The Fluvanna County School Board announced today that it will begin the process of hiring a superintendent. The Fluvanna County School Board has selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the Board with the superintendent search. The first step in this process is seeking input regarding the qualifications and characteristics they would like to see in the next Superintendent.

The School Board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FluvannaSearch, and on the home page of the Division’s web site. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the School Board Office (former Palmyra Elementary School), each school location, community businesses, county offices, and the Public Library. Please return all hard copies to the Fluvanna County School Board Office to the attention of Brandi Critzer, Assistant to the Superintendent and Clerk to the School Board or one of our schools.

In addition to the survey, the board will hold a public hearing:
Date: February 1, 2017
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Fluvanna County School Board Office
14455 James Madison Highway
Palmyra, VA 22963

“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task a school board will face and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” said School Board Chairman, Carol Tracy Carr, “We hope that parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey or attend the public hearing.”
