PRESS RELEASE – December 11, 2018

At a scheduled Fluvanna County School Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the Fluvanna County School Board voted to approve the position of Coordinator of Federal and Instructional Programs and the appointment of Ms. Gemma Soares to this role. The School Board restructured the administrative staff at the School Board Office, eliminating a director’s position and adding this coordinator role.

“I’m excited to have Ms. Soares join our district level team. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help us continue our efforts towards success for all of our children,” stated Chuck Winkler, Superintendent.
Ms. Soares has been with Fluvanna County Public Schools since 2005, teaching at Fluvanna Middle, Central Elementary, and Carysbrook Elementary schools. Since 2014, Ms. Soares has served as Assistant Principal of Fluvanna Middle School. Ms. Soares is a native of Fluvanna County and graduate of Fluvanna County Public Schools. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, earning her undergraduate degree in Curricular Studies and Elementary Education, and went on to complete her Master’s in Education Administration with Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011.

Ms. Soares is very excited to continue to grow her own professional knowledge and share her passion for learning in this new role. Ms. Soares stated, “I have an unwavering commitment to education and promoting lifelong learners, and will continue to work hard to be a positive and supportive influence for students, colleagues and the greater community of Fluvanna County Public Schools.”

At a scheduled Fluvanna County School Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the Fluvanna County School Board voted to approve appointments to two positions.

Lara Dugolinsky

Lara Dugolinsky,
Fluvanna Middle School Assistant Principal

Ms. Lara Dugolinsky has been appointed to the position of Assistant Principal at Fluvanna Middle School. Ms. Dugolinsky began her teaching career in 2006 with Henrico County Schools. She was an elementary special education teacher for five years at Johnson Elementary, transferred in 2011 to Brookland Middle School as an administrative aide and department chair for special education, then transferred in 2013 to Oak Knoll Middle School as the administrator for special education.

Ms. Dugolinsky received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health at William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ. She went on to receive both her Masters of Education in Special Education in 2009 and Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision in 2012 at University of Phoenix.

Ms. Dugolinsky is a dedicated and experienced education professional with expertise in special education, classroom instruction, professional development and administration. Ms. Dugolinsky is filling the role vacated by Ms. Soares’ reassignment. Ms. Dugolinsky will begin her new role in January.

Angie Spitzer

Angie Spitzer,
Administrative Assistant for Curriculum and Instruction

Mrs. Angie Spitzer has been appointed to the position of Administrative Assistant for the Curriculum and Instruction Department. Mrs. Spitzer is a native of Fluvanna County and graduate of Fluvanna County Public Schools.

Mrs. Spitzer joins us with 29 years of administrative experience, providing quality customer service with a high level of professionalism. She is excited for this opportunity in her new role.
