FCPS Transportation Supervisor
PRESS RELEASE – February 28, 2019
At a scheduled Fluvanna County School Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019, the Fluvanna County School Board unanimously approved the appointment of Ms. Valarie Marsh as the new FCPS Transportation Supervisor. The division organized a school-based panel of team leaders, received multiple applications and conducted several interviews before selecting Ms. Marsh.
“I am truly excited about Valarie taking over the helm as Transportation Supervisor. Valarie brings a wealth of experiences and knowledge to this position. She has been a wonderful asset to both our school system and community for a number of years. I know that she will continue to help us grow and move forward together for our children,” stated Chuck Winkler, Superintendent.
Ms. Marsh has been a member of the Transportation team for ten years and is recognized by the State of Virginia as a certified Bus Driver Instructor. She is also a graduate of ECCC where she earned her associate degree.
In addition to her experience in Fluvanna, Ms. Marsh has over 25 years in retail banking management. She is a long time resident of Fluvanna County, with her husband Jim and two sons, Justin and James.
Rebecca Ward,
Transportation Secretary
The Board also approved the transition of Ms. Rebecca Ward to Transportation Secretary. Ms. Ward has been a part of the Transportation team for six years. She is a long time resident of Fluvanna County, with her husband Nick, a teacher for FCPS, and her two children Alexia (11) and Grayson (8).
Ms. Ward is very active in our community. She currently sings with the Fluvanna based group, “Odyssey of Soul”. She is an active member of Fox Memorial Baptist Church, where she serves as the Youth Committee Leader and the Sunday School Secretary. She is also currently serving as the secretary for the LMKA Boosters Club.
Ms. Ward is a strong believer in hard work and dedication. She is an adherent of the work ethic of Vince Lombardi who said, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” She is very excited for this new role and to continue working alongside Valarie Marsh.
