PRESS RELEASE – December 15, 2020

For Immediate Release

On December 9, 2020, Mr. Winkler, Superintendent, announced his retirement effective June 30, 2021, and at this time the Fluvanna County School Board announced they will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent. The Fluvanna County School Board has selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the Board with the superintendent search. The first step in this process is seeking input from the community regarding the qualifications and characteristics they would like to see in the next Superintendent.

The School Board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FluvannaCoSurvey and on the home page of the Division’s web site (www.fluco.org). Hard copies of the survey are available at the School Board Office (former Palmyra Elementary School) and each school location. Please return all hard copies to the Fluvanna County School Board Office to the attention of Brandi Critzer, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Clerk to the School Board.

In addition to the survey, the board will hold a public hearing:
Date:
January 13, 2021
Time:
6:30 p.m.
Location:
Fluvanna County School Board Office 14455 James Madison Highway Palmyra, VA 22963

“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task a school board will face and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” said School Board Chairman, Perrie Johnson “We hope that parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey or attend the public hearing.”
