FLUVANNA ROTARY PROVIDES GRANT FOR CARYSBROOK STEAM LAB

PRESS RELEASE – September 15, 2017

At the September 13 meeting of the Rotary Club of Fluvanna County, the club presented Carysbrook Elementary with a check in the amount of $6051.70. These funds will be used to provide equipment for the school’s Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) Room.

Russell Jennings is Named Region V Teacher of the Year 2018

Fluvanna County Public Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Russell Jennings has been named the 2018 Region V Teacher of the Year. The Regional Teachers of the Year were selected from among candidates nominated by school divisions in each of the state’s eight superintendent’s regions. The candidates submitted portfolios highlighting their accomplishments, education philosophies and community activities.

FLUVANNA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ALUM INVITED TO VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE FILM FESTIVAL

Jordan Melton’s documentary film His Image was an official selection at the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Film Festival in June. The festival encourages students from around the state to participate in and raise the bar in film achievement. The Third Annual festival was held in June at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

SMITH APPOINTED ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT FLUVANNA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Rebecca Smith has been named Assistant Principal of Fluvanna Middle School. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Eastern Mennonite University. Mrs. Smith has held diverse roles as an educator in both public and private arenas.
