PRESS RELEASE – September 13, 2017

The Virginia Department of Education announced that 86 percent of Virginia’s public schools are rated as Fully Accredited for 2017-18.  This compares with 81 percent for the 2016-17 school year.

Fluvanna is one of 65 school divisions in the state where all schools in the division were fully accredited and one of only 22 school divisions fully accredited for the past four years.  There are a total of 132 school divisions in the State of Virginia. Schools can meet the accreditation by scoring above the benchmark or by using a three-year average.

Central Elementary and West Central Primary Accreditation is based on performance at Carysbrook Elementary School because they do not administer SOL tests.

“I am proud of our school division for achieving this benchmark for the fourth consecutive year.  We are fortunate to have a community that supports education and group of dedicated educators who work together to provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful,” stated Mr. Chuck Winkler, Superintendent.
