Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

I chose Virginia Tech partly because I was raised as a Hokie, but mainly because I love everything that the school stands for. Their motto, “That I May Serve,” speaks volumes to me about not only the school, but also the people there. I also love the campus, and it feels like home to me.

What will you remember most about being a Fluco?

I will remember all the good memories I have made with my teammates during my six years of track.

Who are some of the people that you would like to thank?

I would like to thank my parents for their guidance and endless encouragement. They have helped me become the best person I could be, and I am grateful for their support in anything I do. I also want to thank Mrs. Hagan for helping me over the last year and half, and being one of the most supportive teachers I have had. I want to thank Coach Brogan and Coach Casto for pushing me to be a better athlete and supporting me on and off the track.

What advice would you give to rising 8th Graders?

I would encourage them to get involved in sports and clubs because those are some of things that make high school fun, also cherish every moment and enjoy their five years in the high school, because they go by in a blink of an eye.

What is something humorous that happened while you were in school?

At the beginning of the school year all the SGA officers had to speak during all the class meetings. I was so nervous to speak in front of the senior class that I choked when the microphone was handed to me and I had no idea what to say.

What are your best memories of school?

My best memories of school definitely involve track from the first time I qualified for states in pole vault to having a one foot personal record at the indoor state meet in February and getting the biggest hug from Coach Casto. I have made countless memories with the people I jump with, and that will be something I will always cherish.

What is a Fluco?

A Fluco is someone who lives in Fluvanna County. They are supportive of everyone here and they are proud to live here. A Fluco is someone who has pride in this county and the people in it.
