Special Education

Parents we need your feedback!

The collection period for the 2024-2025 School Year Indicator 8 Parent Survey has officially begun. While the design of the 2024-2025 Indicator 8 Parent Survey has been updated, the questions remain the same. We encourage respondents to complete the survey online, as this is the preferred submission method. Web links are available for each local educational agency (LEA) to print copies of both English and Spanish surveys on the Special Education for Families web page for families who request paper versions. Families choosing the paper option must mail their completed surveys to the VDOE using the address listed on the survey.

LEA’s are urged to distribute the VDOE Special Education Parent Survey one-pager, available in English and Spanish, electronically or in print to all families of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in Virginia.

This year’s timeline for completion and submission of survey responses, in any modality, is set at December 12, 2025.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment toward ensuring that we engage all families in their child’s special education program. If you have questions or need assistance concerning this survey process, please contact Dr. Chiquita Seaborne via telephone at (804) 418-4672 or via email at Chiquita.Seaborne@doe.virginia.gov.
