Purpose:
The Extended Education Program (EXTED) is designed to provide children with a warm, supportive environment where they have the opportunity to enjoy activities, make choices, develop responsibilities, and stimulate their curiosity. Activities include homework time, supervised free play, art, crafts, music, and organized games. The curriculum is tied to academic standards to enhance achievement.
Description:
Extended Ed is held at Central Elementary and is available to Fluvanna County students 4 years old – grade 7. Students who attend Carysbrook and FMS will be transported by bus to Central Elementary every afternoon. The program will be housed primarily in the gym, cafeteria, and playground. Snacks will be provided daily.
Holly Hamshar is the Director of the Ext. Ed Program. Amy Barnabei the Principal of Central Elementary, is the on-site internal contact person for the program. The program will operate each day with a director, appropriate teaching staff, and assistants.

Monday-Friday (school is in session):
- Early Birds, 6:30am – 7:45am
- Extended Education, 3:00pm – 6:00pm
